Semester 3 Newsletter!

Welcome to the final PPS Newsletter of the 25-26 Academic Year! As Semester 3 comes to an end and the weight of exams has lifted, we wish everyone a restful summer break and the best of luck for their results!

PPS Goes on Tour!

PPS wrapped up the semester with our annual camping trip to Hillend Campsite in the Gower peninsula of Wales. It was fantastic to have such a great turn-out and positive spirits despite the weather! Despite the best efforts of the rain, our barbecue, hike and campfire proved to be a resounding success and we thank everyone who came. We look forward to running a trip again next year!

Sports Day

Our annual sports day was held on the 2nd May at Selly Park Recreation Ground featuring classics such as rounders, dodge ball and the tug of war.

We hope it provided a helpful way to burn off exam exam stress!

CUWIP+ Conference

PPS had the privilege of helping the University of Birmingham host this year’s Conference for Undergraduate Women and Non-Binary Physicists (CUWIP+). Across the event, we helped host social events, coordinate lab tours and chair seminars hearing about some of the fascinating physics being conducted by women and non-binary physicists.

We would greatly encourage any female and non-binary physicists to consider attending the 2027 CUWIP+ Conference being held at the University of Edinburgh!

Revision Event

In the run-up to exams, we hosted a revision event in the Physics and Astronomy Coffee Lounge. We hope the opportunity for some social revision helped people destress and study together and gave people a chance for some mutual moral support before the papers!
